Starting Over

Sometimes you must start over. It can be exhausting, but is there another choice? If you believe in what you’re doing, you must step back, re-assess the situation, take a deep breath, and try another path. There is always another path.

Many people ask me how I start events and what is the secret to being successful. It’s simple. You must start. Once you start, you keep trying. You will face obstacles and failure. You can’t worry about the other obstacles that are coming or might happen. You just need to figure out the one right in front of you. Then the next. Then the next.

I’m not saying anything new. In this entrepreneurial world, you’ll find this advice daily in your LinkedIn feed. It reminds me of losing weight. Exercise and eating in moderation – and doing so for the rest of your life – is the only way to lose weight and keep it off. Even though everyone implicitly knows this, people still think there is a miracle diet or pill out there that’s going to make it easy.

Easy is a lie. Easy is the enemy. You must put in the work. You must continue to learn. You combine these things and work smarter. You must do it day after day after day. Even if it means starting over.
